Smile of the Month – total transformation
July’s Smile of the Month is in, and it’s one we’re particularly proud of – the transformation really is quite extraordinary.

Andrew first came to see Dr Ronit Patel as a brand new Brightside patient.
It was a story we’d heard many times before – he’d not been to a dentist for a long time as a previous experience had caused significant dental anxiety.
(I’ll stop there just to re-emphasise that if you’re feeling like this, you really aren’t alone, and we really can help. In fact, we specialise in situations like this!)
Andrew had quite the list that needed addressing – a broken bridge, missing teeth and an overall concern about the appearance of his worn down and discoloured teeth, which was causing a fair amount of anxiety.
In addition, he was after functional improvement – he couldn’t eat and chew effectively on his back teeth.
With this catalogue of needs, together we set about building a long-term plan to solve Andrew’s dental issues, completing a full assessment which included a comprehensive 3D digital screening, X-rays and clinical photographs.
Stage 1 was stabilisation, which involved multiple treatments, all carried out under intravenous sedation.
During this stage, we administered an extraction, root canal work and a change from metal mercury fillings to composite, tooth coloured restorations, all with Andrew comfortable and relaxed, thanks to the sedation.
His worn-down front teeth were also addressed – these were starting to show signs of fractures, so we repaired them and improved their structural stability with composite resin white fillings, as well as using a specialised home whitening kit to improve the overall appearance.
The final stage was to address the issue of missing teeth. We used implants, which were fitted under IV sedation again, and once these were safely bedded in, Andrew was finally able to eat on both sides again, with confidence
Not only does Andrew now have a smile he can be much more confidence in, it’s one that works too!
On an ongoing basis, Andrew is now a regular with both our dentists and our hygienist to keep any future issues at bay.
