Acupuncture – brand new at Brightside
If you’ve been a patient at Brightside for any length of time, you’ll know that we’re always looking for ways to improve the experience we deliver to our patients, adding new services to offering, and finding innovative ways to evolve our existing services.
And today I’m delighted to let you know that we’ve added another string to our bow: acupuncture.
If you’ve not come across acupuncture before, it’s a technique where very fine needles are placed into specific points on the body, called acupoints, to help balance energy flow and encourage healing.
Acupuncture is becoming increasingly popular in the dental world, with its natural, holistic benefits working in tandem with the treatment we offer.

There are some specific benefits to using acupuncture in conjunction with dental treatment:
TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) Relief
TMD can cause pain and difficulty moving the jaw. Acupuncture has been proven to effectively reduce pain and inflammation associated with TMD. By targeting muscles around the jaw, it improves blood circulation, reduces muscle spasms, and promotes relaxation. This leads to better jaw movement and less discomfort.
Anxiety Reduction
Dental anxiety is common and can stop patients from getting the care they need, and at Brightside, we have a long history in using the latest techniques in order to help alleviate anxiety and deliver stress and pain-free dentistry.
Acupuncture can help reduce stress and anxiety before and during dental visits. By targeting points related to relaxation and emotional balance, acupuncture calms the nervous system, making dental visits more comfortable and less stressful for anxious patients.
Gag Reflex Management
A strong gag reflex can make dental procedures challenging. Acupuncture offers a solution by relaxing the body’s reflexes, helping patients stay calm and comfortable during treatments that involve your mouth or throat.
Acupuncture – now available at Brightside
Dr Ronit Patel is fully trained in delivering acupuncture specifically for dentistry, so we’re delighted to be able to offer this treatment.
If you’re looking for a holistic way to manage dental pain, reduce anxiety, or make your dental visits more comfortable, there’s every chance acupuncture will help you.
